Personally I hate it when people plaster the outside of their laptops with all kinds of start-up company stickers. You see them all the time at conferences or your local Starbucks but to do this kind of thing just ruins the look of any laptop – and especially Apple MacBooks.

However people love to personalize their possessions and it’s no different when it comes to laptops. That doesn’t mean you have to slap layers of company stickers on it as you can see from these really cool MacBook stickers.

Hey Everyone, How y'all doing?

Things have been going great in my life so far this past year.

Everything has been like perfect, not always. But i am happy :)

"The number pinned to her dress was 146..."

In 2002, the co-founders of Love 146 travelled to South East Asia on an exploratory trip to determine how they could serve in the fight against child sex trafficking. In one experience, a couple of our co-founders were taken undercover with investigators to a brothel, where they witnessed children being sold for sex. This was their experience. This is the story that changed our lives. 
"We found ourselves standing shoulder to shoulder with predators in a small room, looking at little girls through a pane of glass. All of the girls wore red dresses with a number pinned to their dress for identification. They sat, blankly watching cartoons on TV. They were vacant, shells of what a child should be. There was no light in their eyes, no life left. Their light had been taken from them. These children...raped each night... seven, ten, fifteen times every night. They were so young. Thirteen, eleven… it was hard to tell. Sorrow covered their faces with nothingness. Except one girl. One girl who wouldn’t watch the cartoons. Her number was 146. She was looking beyond the glass. She was staring out at us, with a piercing gaze. There was still fight left in her eyes. There was still life left in this girl...
"...All of these emotions begin to wreck you. Break you. It is agony. It is aching. It is grief. It is sorrow. The reaction is intuitive, instinctive. It is visceral. It releases a wailing cry inside of you. It elicits gut-level indignation. It is unbearable. I remember wanting to break through the glass. To take her away from that place. To scoop up as many of them as I could into my arms. To take all of them away. I wanted to break through the glass to tell her to keep fighting. To not give up. “Because we went in as part of an ongoing, undercover investigation on this particular brothel, we were unable to immediately respond. Evidence had to be collected in order to bring about a raid, and eventually justice on those running the brothel. It is an immensely difficult problem when an immediate response cannot address an emergency. Some time later, there was a raid on this brothel and children were rescued. But the girl who wore #146 was no longer there. We do not know what happened to her, but we will never forget her. She changed the course of all of our lives." -Rob Morris, President and Co-founder

“Singapore, it’s nice to meet you!” shouted Hayley Williams to the packed Singapore Indoor Stadium last Sunday. The greeting has at least been five years in the making. For the thousands of teenage fans who queued up outside the venue as early as the night before, watching Paramore larger-than-life right before their very eyes was like, to paraphrase the lyrics from “Misery Business,” watching their wildest dreams come true.

And did the five-year wait pay off? Every single minute of it. Since their 2005 debut All We Know Is Falling to their 2007 breakthrough Riot! to last year’s Brand New Eyes, Paramore has always been a live force to reckon with. There’s no need for any elaborate setup, for the fearless Tennessee quintet have youth and high-octane energy on their side. Setting the stage on fire with “Ignorance,” Paramore ripped through their short one-hour set with ballsy, fist-pumping Riot!favorites like “That’s What You Get,” “Crushcrushcrush,” and “Let The Flames Begin,” as well as older tunes like “Never Let This Go” and “Pressure.” Hayley may be pint-sized, but this flame-haired siren is definitely a consummate front-woman who commands the stage like no other with her mega wattage charms and exuberance.

But the rest of the boys were no sidemen either. Despite guitarist Josh Farro’s absence (dude has to stay home to prepare for his wedding), the band were still a super tight unit with drummer Zac Farro, bassist Jeremy Davis, guitarist Taylor York and his brother Justin, who was sessioning on guitars. Clearly enjoying themselves, Taylor and Jeremy not only kicked out the jams with their synchronized head-banging moves, their super gymnastic tag-team routine where Jeremy did a roundabout flip over Taylor while still playing was simply a sight to behold. If any fans in attendance were in bands and needed a lesson in showmanship, that’s wholly a chapter of its own in the books.

The blistering teen brio workout – both on stage and in the pit where more than 20 fans reportedly fainted and had to be pulled out for safety – aside, Paramore was still able to bring on the tender moments with their last single, “The Only Exception.” Citing a massive sing-along, Hayley couldn’t help but remarked to the crowd, “You guys have got really good voices!”

After belting out more tunes like “For A Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic,” “Where The Lines Overlap” and the epic Twilight anthem “Decode”, the band returned with “Misery Business” for the obligatory encore segment. “This is the wildest crowd we’ve ever had!” remarked Hayley. And how could the band expect anything less from the sea of appreciative fans? As their closed their debut Singapore set with “Brick By Boring Brick,” Hayley promised that it won’t be another five years before the fans would see them again as “We are family now!” Here’s to the next round then!

Well, hello everyone, its been long since i last blog.

To start off, a lot of events happened in my life the past 2 weeks i guess.

It took me lots of courage to approach my parents to ask them if its ok to like a certain someone,

and they gave me a positive answer so im HAPPY! really very very happy!

Well, life has been good. With my birthday on the 28th of January.

I expected more presents but thanks to my parents, i did manage to get what i wanted that

was the 50mm lens of my Nikon :)

Haven used it much tho, cause college, it sucks, bz bz bz bz.

And oh yea, my dad got admitted in the hospital,

really hope that you guys keep him in your prayers, cause i really want him home soon :(

The doctors are taking good care of him and im glad that my dad

can take a week or 2 in the hospital to recover and rest.

He likes the electronic bed :)

Thank you to everyone that brought the flowers and fruit basket :)

Today is thursday and in like about 2 and a half hours tine,

Im dead scared and nervous but at least im confident with my topic that is the Family Force 5,

Walk in Love

Lately I've been learning more and more about Gods' love for us and showing others how much God loves them. But the thing is .. as Christians we're supposed to Walk in love..

back in 1992 Dc Talk came out with a song called Luv is a Verb. The dictionary defines love and a Noun. From elementary school we should all remember that a noun means it's a person, place, or thing. right? That's not how God sees the word love. And neither should Chrisitans. (or people in general)

There are so many christians that walk around giving hatred a name. Telling people that they are going to hell for something that they don't feel is right. Or turning their back on a friend for a little stupid reason. So we realize what we're doing to these people? Do we realize that as "ambassadors of Christ" we're showing them that's what Jesus would do?

Jesus would NEVER EVER tell someone who has chosen the life of being gay,, that they're going to Hell.. If you don't believe me.. Read the Bible! IF you come up with a verse that says and Jesus condemned them to hell becuase of their sin... You show me.

Walking in Love means soo much more than saying "I love you." Words are absolutely meaningliess without action. Jesus did the ultimate "action" of love by taking all our sin upon himself and dieing in place of us.. going to hell in place of us and in turn closing the door on death (Hell) itself.

We have a hard time walking in love because of our judgmental spirits. We want to show up others and make our selves feel better when we see someone else doing wrong. We want hurt them before they can hurt us. This is human nature(the flesh). We some times can't help ourselves but look at someone and automatically think they're bad or horrible.

Walking in Love takes, Courage, Courage to see someone the way God created them. Remember that God created everyone so if he Created everyone and He loves them and accepts them just the way they are, shouldn't we?

We want to "fix" everyone that we see. We see something wrong with them and want to change it. That's not the way Jesus taught us to love people. Jesus was never negative and He never nit picked. If he did it's not in the Bible If it's not in the Bible, we shouldn't make it up either.

Showing people Love isn't easy, especially if you don't get that Love is bigger than we are. It existed before any of us did and it will exist long after we're gone.

I have learned that loving others means accepting them just the way they are. Doing any less than that would be holding yourself higher than that person. Think about it you look at someone and say to yourself that person is not christian, or that person is not a good person..
Number one you're judging them before you even get to know them.
Number two you're looking at yourself and saying i would not be like that person..i'm better..

Sounds absolutely ridiculous.. but I do it too. You see someones problem and think.. HA I don't have that problem!

Heres' the deal ... You have other problems! Walking in love is about realizing that. Realizing that we all to through things and can learn from them. Someone may be on the road to "destruction" in your mind when in Gods mind He wants them to learn something to become stronger to see things from a different perspective than we do so they can help others.

Being there for each other= Walking in love. No matter who they are, where they're from, what they do, Be there!

Lifting each other up= Walking in Love. Yes... that person that you do not like who tells you they dream of being a super star...Encourage them... IF they're truly good enough (which brings me to the next point...)

Telling each other the tough truth= Walking in Love. Dreaming of a supersat and not having the talent to do it... You need to tell them that. but tell it to them with love in your voice.

Not being condesending= Walking in love. You tell someone they're not superstar material, in a way they understand why you're saying it. You don't want people to be set up to fail or fall.

Understanding each other= Walking in Love. Realizing that people come from different places then we do. They have different ideas about things because they had a different life and learned different things we did.

Tough love is probably the hardest love to give. We can't exactly give tough love to people we don't know. Tough love should be given to family members (that you know well) and friends. Don't walk up to someone you do not know, call them out on something (that you're not sure about) and call it tough love.

When you grow up in a Christian home, you have everything you could ask for, you have love in your home, you weren't abused, you got great grades and you're at a job that you like. You're not a partier and you pretty much found the right person for yourself. You see someone that is totally opposite where you are and automatically think awful of them.

Maybe they didn't have it as easy as you! You have had positive your whole life! you just bragged to them how well you had it. Walking in love would've been you realizing that they may not have had the life that you had. Maybe you could learn something from them.

We were all made differently, all made to see things in dfferent ways to learn from each other and to grow. We should want each other to be our best. The best we we can be! I'm not perfect I still have issues with walking in love but I want to be able to try and love everyone and see them for the person that God created them as.

Walking in love is about bringing out the best in people, not pushing past mistakes and screw ups into peoples faces. Moving on and letting go. That's what true love is all about..

Love has a meaning; but it has no meaning as an abstract inside thought. When its stretched outside of you, then it means something, then its Love – and the further its stretched the bigger the love.

God doesn’t simply have an actless thought for us, He has real Love. Love in a sunset, love in nature at every scale, love from the cross – expressing exactly his love: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”.

But what about us loving back? I don’t want to have an abstract empty thought for God, I want to have love. And theres even a commandment which starts: Love the Lord your God. Don Francisco writes ‘love is not a feeling its an act of your will’. That feeling makes you willing, but it shouldn’t just make you willing. Paul Heaton writes ‘don’t do what you can, just say that you would…as long as it makes you feel good’ (satirical reference to treatment of the poor) and this is the opposite of that.
And what about sharing God , not keeping Him inside? It says ‘God is love’ (1 John 4:16). Whether someone believes they must share God to save someone from going to hell, or whether someone believes they must share God because He has forgiven everyone and given up everything to fight off their sins – either way, I think, its designed to be anything but a locked up thought inside, a private personal point. And I think thats wonderful…

And then theres Abraham praying in Genesis 18. He recognises God’s justice and love – and doing that in a small way leaves me both overwhelmed and confused. He intercedes for Sodom (intercession is a place beyond loves joy) and subsequently at least Lot, Lot’s family and the village of Zoar are saved. But I think intercession often comes out of trying to wrestle with the juxtapositin of God’s justice and the heartbreak of burden. Things can start to feel like they dont make sense (bereavement, or just wishing other folk could see how amazing it is to ‘know’ God as a person and not just as a word, surely the point of Jesus coming as a person), or aren’t fair, or safe .
And that is ok because unconditional love doesn’t make sense. It’s not supposed to fit with anything, not least how life is. At least it wont make sense in words alone because its not just words anymore, its love; someones self to God relationship with.

so im just loving that God is love is what I’m trying to say ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Well, I finally won something! I won 2 tickets for the premiere of Paranormal Activity. I posted a status online asking if anyone would wanna follow me cause everyone i ask was so busy. So, Li Anne replied my post and saying that she wanna go, so fine, i brought her along and we DID NOTget lost, i repeat we DID NOT get lost :D Tropicana City Mall was so easy to find. We reach the place and went straight to the cinema, found theNuffnang ladies and got our tickets and i even got chewing gum and a I Love Nuffnang badge :)

Well at least it was something to replace my lost in the Slurpeelicious thingy :) We bought pop corn and went into the cinema, we sat at our seats saw the GSC ad, and movie begin, there were not even movie previews before the movie started. The movie was shot from a hand held camera kinda thingy like Cloverfield, so it was giving me headaches. I already planned to walk out of the cinema not because the movie was scary and all but just of the camera angles were so shaky, but in this movie it was pretty stable cause the guy used a tripod. LOL. The movie lasted a little more than an hour, my friend sitting beside me got one and in her pop corn and another hand holding her handbag and covering her entire face! HAHA. The 1st part of the movie was lame and not scary cause there were no ghost, just doors moving and knocking, so I was asking myself this cant be the scariest movie of all time, its so lame, then came the last 10 minutes of it, it was getting scarier, the girl acting in the show became possessed and stuff because they left the camera on at night to capture any "Paranormal Activity" that was going on. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 The last 10 seconds made the movie the scariest movie of all time! I had goosebumps for so long, imagine the movie ended with a smile at the camera :) I don't wanna explain it in detail, u guys just watch it and tell me bout it :) And I did sleep well last night with my lights off and room door lock. LOL. So yeah, Paranormal Activity, what a way to start the new year :D

Adam Lambert Explains American Music Awards Performance Frame By Frame

Singer takes us through every controversial, planned and improvised moment of the show.

As it turns out, two of the most controversial moments of Adam Lambert's American Music Awards performance on Sunday night were total ad libs. That's what Lambert told MTV News on Tuesday, when he sat down to discuss the show-closing set that turned him into a global Internet sensation all over again.

"That wasn't in the original choreography," Lambert explained of the bit where he took a male dancer's head and shoved it into his crotch to mimic oral sex. "I was supposed to look at him, and I just grabbed him. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think he would have been cool with it. ... It might look real forceful, but we all respect each other and were doing it in the name of the show."

Lambert also said that he didn't know he was going to grab keyboard player Tommy Ratliff and give him a rather full-mouth kiss near the end of the run through "For Your Entertainment," the title track to Lambert's just-released major-label debut.

"During rehearsal, I grab him by the hair and kind of just looked at him," he said, adding that the keyboardist is not married, as had been rumored, but is definitely straight. "He's straight. He just, I guess, didn't mind getting kissed in the name of entertainment on stage."

Though everyone was talking about Jennifer Lopez's fall on Monday morning, Lambert walked us through his own tumble, which the musical-theater veteran almost managed to play off as part of the show. "My foot got caught on the stair, and I hit the platform and I didn't know what was going on," he said of the fall, after which he did a forward roll, picked up a cane and fondled a female dancer while getting back to his feet within seconds. "[I thought], 'OK, I have to get up and turn around.' I felt like when you spray a cockroach and its legs are up in the air ... At that point the adrenaline was like, 'Oh my God, I just fell ... ahhhh!' "

Lambert noted that near the beginning of his appearance, ABC censors dropped out the audio and cut away from him when he gestured to his crotch, saying that he didn't use any foul language, but someone with an itchy bleep finger simply jumped the gun. "They got scared," he said. Censors also managed to cut away to avoid showing Lambert giving the finger to all the haters.

In retrospect, he also had to laugh a bit at the moment when he pushed through a mirrored doorway. "Now that I look at it, that moment there of the door, flinging the door open ... it's a good symbol," he said.

Of all the things that went wrong or in a different direction than he planned, Lambert seemed most annoyed by what he said were the poor acoustics in the Nokia Live Theatre, which may explain why some critics complained that his vocals were a bit pitchy and off. "The Nokia Theatre has really crappy acoustics, actually," said Lambert, who also tweeted to gossip blogger Perez Hilton about his acoustical problems. "When you hear an album or you're even at a concert, or anywhere that you're in an acoustic space, there's echo from the room and that makes the sound sound cool, it gives it space. [At the Nokia] it's just, like, dry. It's a dry mix, so it doesn't do anybody any favors. I heard some other performers weren't too happy with some of their sound either."

On the positive side, Lambert was proud to reveal that the "Phantom of the Opera"-style, gothic piano intro to the performance was written by none other than famed David Bowie collaborator Mike Garson, who has also worked with Nine Inch Nails, No Doubt and the Smashing Pumpkins.

Change Your Thinking

It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.

Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene..

One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.
He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

Well, this kinda sucks, coming home from a great trip, i find out that my photo lost the Nuffnang Slurpee Competition thingy! Li-Anne was the 1st to welcome me home, lol. * just giving her credits since she is being all so kind to me* :P I had an awesome trip with my family, it was a long weekend I can say that i really did enjoy myself very much :) especially during the island hopping. Nothing much to say about Langkawi but its really not like what people say about it, is it not so great after all. When u arrive to the beach, i think its Pantai Chenang, it just looks like any other ordinary beach anywhere in Malaysia, but when u enter the water you know that its Langkawi because to my surprise the water was blue and clear and still taste salty. During the island hopping we stopped at a private island and i put on my goggles and went snorkeling! I did see fishes swimming below me! lol. That was a good experience. Thats all actually that is in Langkawi, besides meeting with friends and having some amazing seafood! We took the ferry home to Kuala Kedah where we parked out car there and then we suppose to head home to KL, but my dad gave the idea that we stop in Taiping to visit his friends and maybe to the zoo thingy. So we all agreed because we were really tired after the trip and all. :) Taiping Zoo to my surprise was not that bad, the animals were quite active especially the elephants and the orang utans. lol. Well, i guess the whole weekend trip was a blast for me, waiting for the new year to come. 19 years old, imma big boy! lol. Here are a few shots from the trip.

Christmas at Sungei Wang

Well, today i was suppose to look for gifts, that was the main idea we left home for. lol. Ended up in Sungei Wang, with my mum, sis and my cousin.

The excuse was wanted to buy clothes for my sister.

I had like around rm70 in my wallet. So i walk all over Sungei Wang then went into BB Plaza, and i saw a Paramore and Family Force 5 tee!!

Was so tempted to buy it, but i didn't, could buy them another time :) I'm a regular customer there. haha. I walk into a shoe shop and saw the shoes that i wanted! the Converse black sneakers and it had like a 50% discount, original price was like rm89.90.

So excited wanting to get it, but! it had only one freaking size and it was like a size 5! who on earth has feet so small besides my mum? :P

Feeling of buying shoes, me and me cousin went around to every shoe shoe shop looking for those shoes, found some but all no sizes, guess i'm just too big :)

Last place on our minds Bata, and i found them! It was like going for rm39.90, so it wasn't converse, but what the heck, it looks like a converse :) So i bought them!

So now, i have new pair of shoes to enter my collection and got something new to wear for christmas! haha.

Kampar Trip

Random Shot on the way home.

Well, just got back from Kampar bout few hours ago. and man im dead tired. it was quite an interesting trip. Dad had to preach in a camp so we just followed along. Din talk to anyone in the camp cause maybe i was to shy or i din know any of them :P Well, the food there was great! ate the cheapest wantan mee ever, it costs only Rm2.50 a plate! I guess its cheap cause UTAR is there, and the area was just filled with students, we stayed at the Grand Kampar Hotel, surprisingly it was really good. It's a 3 star hotel but i guess its actually a 4 star, because it lacks facilities thats why its only a 3 star. Well it had internet access in every room but we had to rent it like for 5 bucks for 24 hours of internet service, that kinda sucks. Well at least i had something to keep me company since i forgot to bring my mobile phone. lol. Before coming back today, i told my dad to stop at the Lata Kinjang waterfall since it was on the way back, the waterfall was amazing! and there really not many people since it is a monday, but there were stil people and some of them were shampoo-ing their hair in the water! that was the disgusting thing bout it, the rocks all over were slippery and i still manage to get a few shots of it.

The whole trip during the weekend i can say was fun to me, especially today. haha. Oh, and we also stop at a shop that sells the famous Kampar chicken biscuits! and bought loads of it cause it taste so nice! so , if you're lucky you maybe would get one from me. lol. Well, thats it for this trip. Gonna start preparing for christmas! I cant wait! This coming saturday im off to Penang! Woohoo! Food again! Will keep u all updated :)

Paramore in Singapore

Well, finally. After waiting for so so long. Paramore is finally coming to Singapore. And im going! im definitely going. I dont care if i have exams or college during that period of time, im for sure. Who wants to join me? I think its March 17. It would be greater if they will make it down here to Malaysia, then ill be hunting down the people in charge to give me backstage passes :P Even in Singapore, gonna ask my dad to find out who are the guys in charge of bringing them there, see if he knows anyone of them! meeting and greeting Paramore! my dream come true, HAYLEY WILLIAMS babey!!!! If i do meet her, what am i gonna say? lol. Pictures are for sure! i dont care to much of autographs and stuff, i need photos with them!! Woohoo. Just by typing this post makes me exited! I have seen that this week and honestly, it has been simple: Take a broken girl, treat her like a famous princess, give her the best seats in the house. Buy her coffee and cigarettes for the coming down, books and bathroom things for the days ahead. Tell her something true when all she’s known are lies. Tell her God loves her. Tell her about forgiveness, the possibility of freedom, tell her she was made to dance in white dresses. All these things are true.

We are only asked to love, to offer hope to the many hopeless. We don’t get to choose all the endings, but we are asked to play the rescuers. We won’t solve all mysteries and our hearts will certainly break in such a vulnerable life, but it is the best way. We were made to be lovers bold in broken places, pouring ourselves out again and again until we’re called home.“

Sorry for the long quote, but it is impacting me. I very briefly highlighted this story a few months ago when I was introduced to it by a friend, but I’ve been thinking about it a bit again lately. Check out the story here.

I think sometimes we can get so easily discouraged and wonder why things aren’t changing or aren’t turning out the way we hoped. But that is part of the paradox of the Christian life, of this journey of following Jesus – things wont always turn out how we hoped. But we still have a responsibility and a calling to act, to dosomething… otherwise how will anything ever change? And really, it’s not that hard is it? Buy the homeless guy a cup of coffee. Talk to the Big Issue seller you walk past everyday. Be willing to be interrupted.

Not to forget, just downloaded this album today after watching the video on E! well, people i got to say, u guys have to i repeat HAVE TO get it. its by 30 Seconds to Mars, their 1st studio album in 4 years, This is War. their single is an epic, Kings and Queens. Im totally addicted to it right now, been listening to it on my mac, watching the video over and over again, listening to it in my car. man im addicted. lol.

heres the review of it,

Jared Leto might be seen as one of the more pretentious individuals on the face of the Earth, but when it comes to his band, there’s no denying its achievements. 2005’s A Beautiful Lie produced some big, big songs that made 30 Seconds to Mars one of the “scene’s” figureheads, but on the band’s new album, which has taken them four years to write, record and release, they go to war. At war with who? Well we don’t really know, but what is for sure is the fact that whoever 30 Seconds to Mars go to war with on this record, Jared Leto and co are going to be coming out on top, because this is epic.

The record begins with “Escape,” a track that has minimal vocals but instead builds anticipation for the main attraction with a frantic drum beat, and when that anticipation reaches fever pitch the band rip into “Night of the Hunter,” one of the biggest and best songs on the entire record. This track, along with many others such as single “Kings and Queens” and the Kanye West-assisted “Hurricane,” feature the trademark 30 Seconds to Mars sound of quiet verses with hushed vocals from Leto and huge, undeniable choruses. And it is on these unrelenting choruses where Leto comes into his own as vocalist. His piercing voice just goes on and on from strength to strength.

On This is War, however, Leto is assisted on vocals by a backing group that consists of hundreds of the band’s fans who attended a special album preview and were recorded for use on the album earlier in the year. This massive backing choir comes into play and many of thealbum’s tracks and more often than not only serves to make the songs sound even more impressive than they already are. This is a band that has always done a lot for its fans but this is taking it to another level, actually including them in the recording of the album. The bandalso ran a competition that allowed 2,000 fans to have their photos used as the record’s album art. Pretty cool.

This is War is a record that will please both new and old fans alike. It merges the two differing sounds of the band’s previous two releases, as it is crammed with catch-all choruses as mentioned but is also fairly progressive as the band’s self-titled debut was. Only these progressive moments are more haunting and epic than ever before, as “Stranger in a Strange Land” proves. Instrumental album-closer “L490” is simply bizarre but makes for a intriguingly psychedelic end to a stunning album.

And for those wondering how 30 Seconds to Mars and Kanye West sound on the same song, I’ll just mention that “Hurricane” is as near flawless a song as I have heard all year long. Neither West nor Leto take away from the other and in fact they compliment each other almost perfectly, Kanye’s verse being one of the album’s many, many highlights.

As for the album as a whole, despite its lengthy running time it never drags and on repeated listens you merely discover more and more intriguing sounds and genius lyrics that make it seem fresh every time. It took me numerous listens to realize that the French-spoken countdown on “Night of the Hunter” actually goes “un, deux, trois, cinq.” What happened to four? Weird. But that’s one of many idiosyncrasies that make this such a unique and powerful record.

21st HSG Anniversary

Well, gonna be bz this next few weeks with my involvement with the 21st anniversary video for church. i thought it was gonna be bz but it aint, gotta do lots and lots of editing of old photos and stuff. god give me the strength, well, i dun even know why im blogging, i hate it. but its like around 1.58am, no one to teman me. im all alone and the wifi is stil on miraculously. lol. dad did not off it today and i guess he's already long ago asleep :) well, tomoro gonna be jamming with the guys getting ready for jo's 21st birthday this friday. and im stil thinking of what im gonna wear, it has to be formal and something gold. thought of getting a gold hat from echo park. think its around rm60 for it. but it looks really good! hope dad wil get it for me :) not for christmas though. i want a new pair of shoes and a new camera bag! u know what would be nice, a new lens for my baby nikon :) but it costs 3k+! god knows where im gonna get that kind of money. Oh ya, the slurpee thingy, if i win that 6k i would buy me lens. hehe. 3k+ for a lens its called investment! haha.

i think this is the lens that im talking about, im not even sure about it. all i know it takes good shots and its better than my current lens now. this would be the best christmas present! besides someone giving me 4.5k.

4.5k to go to australia to watch my favourite band in the whole wide world! FAMILY FORCE 5!! they gonna be in citipointe church brisbane next year on the 26 of jan! 2 days before me birthday! oh how i wish that i could go. daddy please let me go!! anyone got 4.5k lying around? can u just kindly give it to me :) i would be very grateful!

well, i think my eyes are closing, its 2.13am now and i have to be awake by 9 because dad's friends are visiting us. lol ! good night world!

HISTORY OF THE PARACHUTE FESTIVAL

Parachute Festival sprang to life in Waikanae back in 1991 and far exceeded organiser Mark de Jong’s dreams for the event. 1,200 attended that first year, the bands played and the festival very quickly outgrew its beautiful farmland site.
1995 saw the festival move further up the country, due to its sheer growth and popularity, settling in Totara Springs, Matamata. The move saw Parachute tapping into a completely fresh audience of northern Festival-goers. That year saw a boom in attendance, as a new group of music lovers descended on the event. 1995 also saw Parachute boast its first major artist, with DC Talk headlining.
Having established itself firmly as a permanent fixture, Parachute was soon able to claim status as the Southern Hemisphere’s largest four day music Festival, undergoing another move to Hamilton’s Mystery Creek and hitting a record attendance of 27,500 in 2007.
From humble roots to a promising future, Parachute’s mission has remained firm; to bring people closer to Christ through music. Parachute has become an opportunity for local artists to gain exposure to thousands of people and has become synonymous with a raised standard of Christian music in New Zealand.
In 1991, organisers were hard pressed to find bands good enough to perform to an audience of 1,200. Today, the scene is so full of quality Christian acts, that choosing them has become an immense task in itself. For Mark de Jong and Parachute Music, this is a clear sign that the organisation’s calling and mission continues to be fulfilled.
